Case Study

FoodCycle welcomes hundreds to EdCity community meals

FoodCycle, a charity dedicated to bringing people together through shared meals, has been hosting weekly Saturday sessions at EdCity since March 2026. During this time, more than 280 local residents have taken part, gathering to enjoy freshly prepared food and meaningful conversation.

The initiative sits at the heart of FoodCycle’s mission to tackle social isolation, hunger, food poverty and food waste by creating welcoming spaces where people from all backgrounds can come together. Volunteers transform surplus food into nutritious meals, offering not only sustenance but also a sense of belonging for attendees. FoodCycle’s national impact highlights the importance of such initiatives.

According to the organisation, 78% of guests report feeling more connected to their community after attending meals, while 73% say they feel less lonely. These figures underscore the social value of community dining, particularly at a time when many people continue to experience isolation. With continued support from volunteers and partners, FoodCycle hopes to expand its reach and ensure that more residents can benefit from the simple yet powerful act of sharing a meal. EdCity is delighted to support their work.
