Inspiring the next generation of artists at EdCity
In May half term, EdCity and Ark were delighted to support UAL (University of the Arts London) who led a series of fun, creative workshops titled ‘What Really Happens at Art School?’ for children aged 8–12. The week’s events were run in partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham Council and funded by the King’s Coronation Youth Fund.
The workshops gave young people in West London the chance to explore the wide range of opportunities available through art and design education, including pathways into UAL. Across the week, children explored different areas including drawing, fashion and architecture. Through hands-on activities and support from tutors, they were encouraged to try new disciplines, build their confidence and gain insight into creative higher education.
A huge thank you to everyone from the local community who took part and the team at UAL for making the workshops such a success. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to EdCity on 14 July to celebrate the children’s achievements and to screen the ‘premiere’ of a short film which was made over the week.
