Q&A with Empathy Studios

What does Empathy Studios do?
Empathy Studios helps educators and schools develop the skill of empathy through the power of film. Our mission is quite simple: to build the skill of empathy in everyone, enabling people to feel seen, heard and understood. In a nutshell we’re all things empathy, film and education. Empathy Week is our nonprofit festival that happens every year, now reaching 700,000 students across the world. It involves storytelling, film and events that help develop the skill of empathy. We also run CPD and teacher training which EdCity partners with us on and this has been a real highlight of the membership.
Why did you decide to become a member at EdCity?
The idea of bringing educators together and people who work in different businesses really stood out. And also, it’s just a lovely space.
What makes EdCity different to other offices or event spaces that you have used in the past?
I think part of it is simply how nice the space is and how well it’s laid out. But, more importantly, it’s about who created it. It’s been created by education organisations, for educators, and I think there’s a real desire to support that and be part of it.
I genuinely believe education is the most important thing in the world, so being in a space specifically for educators is pretty cool. I’d love to see it flourish even more. I love the idea that one day people might simply say, ‘Oh, go to EdCity’ – that it becomes the place for education.
