Q&A with Applicaa

What does Applicaa do?
Applica is primarily an admissions marketing and enrolment management platform, designed to streamline the application process for schools and sixth forms. Initially, our goal was to help our school compete with a strong local rival. Every year, we would lose 20–30 students between results day and the start of term, often without knowing where they had gone. By introducing a more efficient and professional admissions experience, we aimed to retain students and keep parents informed. This approach worked: enrolment numbers increased, and we realised many schools faced the same challenges. Over time, we expanded the platform to cover the entire admissions journey: collecting references, managing interviews and events, and providing an end-to-end CRM for schools.
Our mission is to build a unified platform that connects all schools and sixth forms, not just for applications but for complete admissions workflows. Recently, we moved into an amazing new office in EdCity, which has been transformational bringing together like-minded people who share a culture of supporting young people and shaping the next generation.
What makes EdCity different to other offices or event spaces?
We feel very fortunate to have this space. The office is modern, well-designed and equipped with incredible facilities. The staff are welcoming and supportive which makes a huge difference.
The flexibility of the space is another big advantage. We’ve hosted different types of events here, including training sessions for schools in the assembly rooms. On two occasions, we’ve used one of the boardrooms for senior leadership team meetings. Everything is professional, well-organised and easy to arrange. It’s a great environment for both day-to-day work and hosting important events.
Has being an EdCity flex tenant had a positive impact on your organisation?
It’s been great for us. We’ve only been here for about three months so we’re still settling in but already the benefits are clear. From a perception standpoint, having a professional base has been transformative. We’re a small company and before this our registered address on Companies House and Google was literally a photo of my front door – not exactly the image we wanted to project! Now, being able to say we’re based in this building gives the right impression and reflects the professionalism of what we do.
