Case Study

Q&A with W12 Together

What do W12 Together do?

W12 Together started as part of a national initiative called Big Local which has provided significant funding – over £1 million – to support local businesses and community projects across the country. W12 Together is the branch that serves the White City and Wormholt areas which include local estates and the surrounding community.

We organise community events such as an annual festival in Wormholt Park which has now been running for five years. We run activities during school holidays such as football sessions and other programmes. We also support young people through apprenticeships and work opportunities, helping them gain skills and experience. Mental health is a major focus and we believe that by engaging with the community, we can better understand and meet their needs.

Our mission is to enrich the community through engagement, ensuring that people feel supported and have access to the resources they need.

Why did you decide to join EdCity as a member?

The offers EdCity provide for members are great, and the environment is really positive – it’s a nice place to work with friendly people. A big advantage is the location: being right in the heart of White City makes it easy for us to connect with and engage the community. Overall, there are many factors that work in our favour.

Has being an EdCity member had a positive impact on your organisation?

Yes, it definitely has. Meeting people at EdCity has improved engagement and reactions to our activities and projects. For example, we’ve hosted community events like an iftar during Ramadan for the Muslim community and we’ve also held a Christmas dinner.

What’s been really positive is that some people who attended the Christmas dinner also came to the iftar, which shows how inclusive and welcoming the space feels. Many community members have told us that EdCity is one of the nicest places they’ve ever been, and it creates a great experience for them. Speaking on their behalf, I can say it’s had a very positive impact.
